Healthy foods for poor and vulnerable children under 5 years of age in Siaya, Kenya
Malnourished children are at high risk of illness and poor health. In Siaya County, where poverty and food insecurity are rampant, one in five children suffer from stunted growth due to poor nutrition. The project is training 80 female smallholder farmers in agroecological farming practices and children’s nutritional needs to improve their families’ food intake.
The children will receive nutritional supplements and be monitored to improve their condition and ensure their development. In addition, local authorities will be involved in the issue, and the women will be central actors in local campaigns for better, climate-resilient food production.
